About Sara
Hejduk (pronounced “Hey Duke”) is an old family name, which comes from the Czech word “hejdu,” meaning “to call” or “to summon.” I’ve always appreciated the connection to something that reflects communication and connection—values that are central to my approach to UX design.
My background is a bit unique—growing up, I was surrounded by family members who faced a variety of challenges—vision impairments, ADHD, autism, diabetes, mobility issues, mental health struggles and more. These experiences taught me the importance of creating environments that are accessible and inclusive for everyone.
As a young adult my career started in health access. I worked as a home health aid throughout college and later as an activity director in nursing homes. After a few short years I found myself in public health administration in state government! These roles gave me firsthand experience in supporting individuals with disabilities and chronic conditions. I learned how impactful accessible design can be in improving people’s lives, whether it’s a simple adjustment to make a space safer, ensuring that people can easily access the services they need, or simplifying technological processes for care staff.
The same principles of empathy and accessibility are just as crucial in the digital world. I focus on creating intuitive designs that are easy to navigate and serve the diverse needs of users. I’m committed to designing digital experiences that are not only functional but also empowering for everyone.
I look forward to connecting!
